Answer in the form of a question

Ready to play along with some Type Jeopardy‽ Josh and Kyle each play host and contestant in this round, with clues coming from three type-themed categories. Josh thinks there are such things as "Yielding Serifs" and Kyle has gone insane listening to the Jeopardy theme all week, just to win fake money.

S2:E13

I’m sending in the goons

Ever talk to someone who's using the word "lettering" when they should be saying "type"‽ Kyle serves as judge, jury, and dictionary this week to clarify some of the most common wording mix-ups in type. Readability or legibility? Font or typeface? Understanding the difference matters! Maybe.

S1:E9

Some Fonts are just up to no good

What could possibly make a typeface lawful, chaotic, or just downright evil‽ Josh and Kyle get caught up in the epic struggle between font good and evil and classify some typefaces using role-playing game personalities as a guide. Chaos ensues,  but only because that's a requirement of the game...

TypeCraft

TypeCraft is a new podcast series that reveals the untold stories of type design! Season One of TypeCraft—out now—specifically focuses on the world of Custom Type, a hidden economy in the type industry that often goes unnoticed and under-appreciated. We interviewed eight industry leaders over six episodes about their experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives creating custom typography and innovative brands.

Episodes:

Ryan Bugden, an independent type and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, tells us about his experience reimagining the Rhode Island School of Design identity, building a family of typefaces rooted in conceptual thinking, collaborating with agencies, and what it's like doing custom design work as an individual designer.

Ben Kiel and Jesse Ragan launched their digital type foundry XYZ Type in 2017 to craft typefaces and lettering for major brands, cultural institutions, and publications. For TypeCraft, Ben and Jesse share their experiences of working with clients, designing the Polymode family for Polymode Studio, and what it is like running a small independent foundry in the wild times of today.

Edd Harrington is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Colophon, a human-centric agency for typography based in London. Edd sits down with us to discuss the process of working with large scale clients, where there is room for risk-taking in brand differentiation, and what it's like to see your work out in the world.

JamraPatel, a studio creating innovative typeface systems for use in under-served communities around the world useing research and historical knowledge to create useful designs that are respectful of the needs and cultures of specific language communities. For TypeCraft, Mark Jamra and Neil Patel went behind the scenes of Kigelia, a typeface system created by JamraPatel that provides typographic richness and technical functionality previously unavailable for several languages on the African continent.

Lila Symons is an independent typeface designer, lettering artist, and graphic designer who has worked and consulted with many in-house design teams in her 18 years of working. For TypeCraft, Lila shares her stories of working for big brands like Martha Stewart and creating dozens of custom typefaces for Hallmark, what it's like to design custom fonts for in-house design teams, how working as a designer inspired her to change career directions and work as a typeface designer, and how her unique experiences in design took her on an unconventional but impactful career path.

Tré Seals founded Vocal Type in 2016 in order to address how the lack of diversity of race, ethnicity, and gender in type has led to a lack of diversity in thought systems, ideas, and creations. Each typeface Vocal Type produces highlights a piece of history, from the Women's Suffrage Movement in Argentina to the Civil Rights Movement in America. For TypeCraft, Tré takes us on the journey of creating Vocal Type through to where it has taken him: working with Spike Lee, crafting typography for political campaigns, and even designing a font inspired by his own life story.
