A Weekly Review of the World of Typography
Releases:
☞
Optional from Feliciano is the third in an install meant of six font families being released over six weeks, all in celebration of their 20th anniversary. Optional is a contemporary high contrast sans serif family of 5 weights, stylistically flaunting influences like Optima, Eurostyle, and classic Unger types.
☞
Strawford is the latest type family from Atipo out of Dijon Spain. Strawford is a fairly neutral geometric sans type collection that arrives as a family of 14 fonts — 7 weights in roman and italic styles.
☞
Occupant Fonts has released Mantar, a family described as a psychedelic Scotch Roman. Available as a family of 12 fonts of roman and italic styles across six weights, Mantar is inspired by a photo lettering specimen and explores a more analog and imperfect take on the classically stodgy style. Mantar was released with a simple yet enthralling mini-site to tell its story.

The newest Future Fonts offering comes from new foundry Manic Type from Canada who released Cleft this week — a squared off and sharp collection of two slab-seriffed font families. The first, Cleft Text, dives into how weight is emphasized in the reading line,. And the second, Cleft Twinline, is a splintered display type that tests the relationship between inner and outer forms.
