American Grotesk
Klim Type Foundry
→ American Grotesk® is a reprisal of Franklin Gothic, which has staked its place as a key part of American graphic vernacular history, notably in persuasive communication. "Compounded by the rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence, our ability to index authority, authorship and authenticity are being redefined through the lens of a new and uncanny form of Americana."
FT Scenik
FrosType
→ FT Scenic is "a typeface inspired by the modernist typography of Margate, a coastal town in the UK. Drawing on influences from the 1930s to the present day, it merges heritage and contemporary design features to create a very large family of 142 fonts: 13 weights of regular, italic, AND backslanting 'Retalic' styles across 6 subfamily widths, plus a mono.
Askr & Embla
Black Foundry
→ Black Foundry published a twofer this week: Askr (a full-bodied calligraphic semi-serif) & Embla (a mid-weight tailored text serif) as part of their in progress collection of Alpha Fonts. These typefaces, while emerging from the same creative origin, offer unique and distinct voices, each bridging the aesthetic differences between Southern and Northern European writing styles in a complementary manner.
Goodman
The Designers FOundry
→ Goodman "is a vibrant revival of the iconic Gesh Ortega Roman 275 by Gerhard Schwekendiek. Designed by Ethan Nakache over the last four-plus years; it breathes new life into this distinguished typeface while honouring its rich heritage and timeless appeal." Goodman lands as family of six weights of very pliable roman and italic letterforms.
Mancine
Herzberg Design Co
→ Mancine is a calligraphic Serif typeface family of 7 weights that "uses an unusual contrast model inspired by left-handed calligraphy, which converges with the principles of Art Nouveau into an elegant and completely unique display typeface." Mancine is also available as a Variable Font.
Eckmania
Double Zero
→ 00 Eckmania is a rather faithful "digital interpretation of "Eckmannschrift", a 1900 typeface designed by Otto Eckmann and published at the Rudhardsche foundry." This family of 6 psychedelic weights comes in beautifully swashy display subfamily and a rather legible text-oriented subfamily, plus a variable font.
