Releases:

Supermassive

Frere-Jones Type

→ “Hefty and idiosyncratic, Supermassive squeezes maximal weight and density out of the available space without sacrificing subtlety or soul. Responding to themes from 1960s handlettering styles, it presents long superelliptical curves and a teetering balance of vertical and horizontal weights." Supermassive is a caps-only typeface and available from Frere-Jones Type as a family of three weight grades.

MD Lórien

Mass Driver

→ "A quarter of a millennium after William Caslon’s eponymous classic, MD Lórien is a new English interpretation of the Dutch Baroque. Based on a careful selection of late-17th to mid-18th-century typefaces from the Low Countries, it gently adapts the ornate, decorative Baroque designs into a practical contemporary family." MD Lorien, available in 5 weights of beautiful roman and italic styles, is Mass Driver's first Serif Typeface, and what a doozy it is.

Supliex

Production Type

→ Supleix is a transitional sans family of 8 fonts (4 weights of roman adn italic styles) that "examines the tension between angular and curved shapes in sans-serif typography. Designed by Jean-Baptiste Levée, Supleix was first approached as a geometry study where shape and countershape create a tension interplay. As Levée sought to introduce polished and smoothed curves on the outer shapes of Supleix, the result was frustratingly round."

Cheesecake, Madcap, & Gertie

Mark Simonson Studio

→ Mark Simonson released three new heavyweights, and that term is used very deliberately as the fonts are both very bold and very awesome. Mark Simonson says that all three fonts "come from different historical periods—and different periods in my life." Cheesecake is a “bold script” style with more in common with 1970s lettering and fonts. Madcap is "a cartoony, all-caps style, with overlapping letters" inspired by Mark's younger days spent working on student publications. And Gertie is inspired by Winsor McCay’s distinctive lettering. "Think of it as Copperplate Gothic on steroids." The power-packed fonts that are filled with personality, expertly crafted, and perfectly personal.
