Kornel
CAST Foundry
→ Kornel is a seriffed type family designed for long texts. "Its confident appearance derives from classic proportions and sharp details, both of which allow excellent performances for print and web." Designer Radek Łukasiewicz states that Kornel takes inspiration "from Renaissance typography in general, rather than any specific typeface." The family lands as a family of 7 weights of roman and italic (really more of a stylized oblique if we're getting technical) styles. We'd also like to note an innovative thing about Kornel: there's a Regular weight, and Regular Dark weight — a nod to offering optical styles without convoluting to family. Very cool.
Daimito
Blaze Type
→ "Daimito is the result of two years of research into sharp yet stable forms, positioned between the great but relatively young typographic styles of our modern times. The design incorporates elements of uncompromising neo-grotesque and strong stylization characteristic of humanistic fonts like Gill Sans. Daimito is a child aware of its cultural heritage, looking boldly into the future with the eyes of an explorer." Daimito is available as a family of 7 weights across three widths with both italic and roman styles, and as a tidy variable font that contains them all.
Inglesi Allungati
R41
→ R41's Inglesi Allungati is the newest entry into the Turin-based foundry's extensive catalog, available through Type Network. Inglesi Allungati is a typeface born from the late 19th-century demand for high-contrast printing types for advertising and newspapers needing extremely narrow characters. It originally had upper and lowercase characters, but was developed into a caps-only font set until is disappeared from the Nebiolo catalog in 1960, which is the version this digital release revives.
