A Weekly Review of the World of Typography

Releases:

Type Everything has released Boldoni — a very high contrast display type family of 5 weights that doesn’t shy away from the flair or the dramatic.

Solina is a new grotesque sans family from Good Type Foundry weighing in at 60 types across 3 widths.

Magnet is a long-awaited sans family designed by Inga Plönnigs. With 13 fonts in total, including an innovative back slant style, Magnet is a power play of type design, and Frere-Jones was smart to scoop up and release it.

Nick Sherman (Hex Foundry) dropped a new single at Future Fonts this week: Marionette — an angular typeface inspired by a handful of glyphs W.A. Dwiggins sketched in 1937 for the Experimental No. 223 project.

Source Serif has evolved yet again into its fourth generation with lots of additional language support, further improving the Source Collection of fonts — one of the most expansive open sourced font projects probably ever.

Paavola Type Studio published Winkell, a futuristic all caps family inspired by futuristic science fiction and cyberpunk.

Kranto is a new grotesque sans superfamily from ReType Foundry that counts a well-crafted inline style among its 144 fonts.

Maxeville is the latest release from Soft Machine, a new foundry based in the Netherlands. Maxeville is a neutral sans family that bends the rules on character construction in select places.
