Week 14, 2021

A Weekly Review of the World of Typography

Releases:

Sudtipos released Vastago Grotesk this week, a sans family of 9 weights inspired by traditional Grotesque designs of the 20th century. Vastago Grotesk was completed with advisory credit from the Type Crit Crew, and yes, it features ink traps.

La Bolde Vita released Residenz Serif — a serif family counterpart to their 2019 release Residenz Grotesk. Residenz Serif comes in 6 weights across 3 optical sizes for a total of 18 fonts, and a wildly expressive set of alternate characters.

Caraque is the latest font from Dalton Maag, a friendly, naive, and whimsical rounded sans family of 5 weights (or variable font option). As with most types from Dalton Maag, Caraque is geared towards corporate communications, but this time with a a looser more fun attitude.
