A Weekly Review of the World of Typography
Releases:
☞
Coppers and Brasses published Agena Display this week — a typeface that "tries to bridge the gap between the expressive humanist sans typefaces of the ’60s and the modern geometric superfamilies of today.” Agena is a very sharp sans family of 4 widths designed with an eye for contemporary graphic design styles.
☞
Jali is the first offering from the newly formed type foundry Foundry5. Jali brings a jovial bounce to the humanist sans genre across 16 styles (8 weights of roman and italics) and beyond, extending its attitude to the Arabic and Greek language systems, too.
☞
Muoto is 205TF’s latest release. Muoto is a modernist sans serif family out to prove that functionalism doesn’t have to be gold and neutral, but can be “warm and softly effective.” Available as a family of 12 styles — six weights of roman and italics, and as a pair of roman and italic variable fonts.
☞
June’s Font of the Month Club offering is a typeface that has been in the making for years — Fern Text. Officially described as a "Venetian old-style typeface is exaggerated diagonal stress”, Fern Text is a fascinating look into how to bridge design eras and make something new.
